In Winter 2010, the Lighthouse Board started a subcommittee with the intention of planning for the future of the program.  The Futures Committee will be meeting regularly to discuss potential program growth, changes, and development.  Interested parents can find out more information and contribute to the Futures Committee conversations by contacting us at futures@lighthousecoop.org

 

Commonly asked questions:

Why is Lighthouse Cooperative not able to have two kindergarten classrooms?  Will we be able to grow in the near future to more than one class per grade level?

Currently there are space constrictions for the upper grade classrooms at Jefferson Elementary which would not allow for two kindergarten classes to move up into first grade. Therefore, Lighthouse Cooperative will remain at 6 classrooms for the foreseeable future.

Will Lighthouse move to another location in order to allow for growth in the future?

The population in the Everett Public Schools continues to grow and classroom space is at a premium. There is not space currently nor is it projected that there will be space in the district that would allow Lighthouse Cooperative to grow to more than 6 classrooms.

Will Lighthouse Cooperative be able to have a middle school in the future?

Until recently, Lighthouse Cooperative (formerly known as COMPASS) did not have solid upper grade numbers. The Cooperative currently has a wait list for lower grade levels and our upper grade classes are now full. We need to continue our solid numbers and create a wait list for upper grades in order to show stability. At this time, there is not an available school that could maintain a K-8 program.
